Custer Post 46, American Legion Department of South Dakota is a Veterans Organization, located in Custer SD.

Membership
Members are the backbone of any organization. In the American Legion, there is only one class of membership, and that is "Member". All of our members have the same organizational rights and responsibilities.

Eligibility
If you have served at least one day of active military duty since December 7, 1941 and were honorably discharged or you are still serving active military duty honorably, you are eligible for membership with The American Legion.
Join
Joining is as basic as submitting an application and paying membership fees.
This can be done in two separate ways:
Online - The process at the link will enroll you in the National organization and SD Department as a member "at large". This process will enroll you in what is known as Post #500, which is for Administrative purposes with the SD Department Headquarters. You will have to further transfer into Custer Post #46 by contacting the Post Adjutant at 605-673-3930.
Locally - This process will enroll you in the National organization, SD Department, and Custer Post #46. It is initiated by completion and submission of below attached form to the Post Adjutant.
Renew
Online - The process at this link is very quick. It requires you have your membership number, credit card, and e-mail address. The online process instantly renews your membership. And it provides you with a certificate of renewal and temporary membership card. To complete the renewal, mail the payment notification to the Post Adjutant. He will then provide your annual membership card to you.
Locally - This is the traditional process. Notification is mailed to you from the National Headquarters. You then mail the completed renewal form with dues payment to the Post Adjutant. And he mails back your membership card. Though the method is reliable, it does take time. And until National Headquarters receives notification of renewal, it will continue to send renewal notices. If confused about your renewal status, always call the Adjutant.
Joining or Renewing your membership with Custer Post #46 can be as simple as just attending one of our monthly meetings. The yearly dues for Custer Post #46, are currently $37.00.
Service
Most important is "service". Members proudly serve God and Country...as Legionnaires. It is up to you.
